The completed rendition below is actually richer in tone. The textures and lines are more cohesive than what is represented by this photo. I like the feeling and flow of the background; for me, a mixture of topography and Hebrew fabric.

Moses

This design entitled "Moses" was a work in progress; now completed. Approx. 14"x18". Drawn with Oil pastels on paper.  

This is one of several pieces I am preparing for a Christian art exhibitit.  I was thinking about Moses, and what those tablets must have meant to him. Not just because they contained the commandments of the Lord, but that God had entrusted them to him. Later I began to meditate on the fact that they were made of stone, which served as a most appropriate metaphor seeing that those very commandments would not only be broken spiritually, but according to scripture they were broken literally as well. How fragile the componants of our existance. If it were not for the mercy of God, where would we be?
