This is a new piece that I'm working on entitled:
"Baptist American"  8"x10" - Acrylic painting on canvas board. Depicts a black gentleman between a baptist, and an American flag, symbolic of the faith of the average African American. A faith deeply rooted in the history of our American experience and encompass the moral and spiritual perspective of at least 8 generations in the continental U.S.

This is the under painting. A method used by artist during the renaissance. When completed it will be full color. Several transparent layers of color will be applied to give the painting a realistic and dynamic finish.

This is Phase 2,  I have added the first layer of color in select areas. Next I will add addtional color and refine areas which I feel were lost due to the opacity of the acrylic paint. Oils would have been more translucent. So, I'll be doing a little double work but that's cool. I love a good challenge. I think I'll utilize a fine textured brush stroke to develop my forms and shadows.

I would have left it black and white if I had known that the gel medium that I hoped would serve as a thinner and glaze, would dry with such a milky finish. (Manufacturers always lie about the flexibility of their product!) But this is where I am so far.
